Criminal Defense Law Firm Headquartered in Alexandria Virginia Specializing in Representing Individuals in Serious Matters in State and Federal Court.
The Law Office of Christopher Leibig represents individuals accused or being investigated for serious crimes, and handles misdemeanor cases on a select basis. Chris began his career at the Office of the Public Defender for the City of Alexandria, where he worked from 1996-2002 handling all varieties of criminal cases from Driving While Intoxicated to Murder. Since entering private practice in 2002, he has practiced exclusively criminal defense.
Chris regularly handles serious felony matters throughout Virginia, appearing most often in federal court in Alexandria, and state court in Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties. Chris has handled many high profile and complex cases throughout Virginia, and been recognized regularly for excellence in criminal defense by Washingtonian Magazine, Super lawyers, Northern Virginia Magazine, and Best Lawyers/US New and World Report. (See In The Press and Awards).
The philosophy of this firm is to avoid a “volume practice” model and handle a relatively small number of matters at a time. The firm will meet with prospective clients for free, and for long enough for the client to make a truly informed choice before moving forward with representation. (See Tips for Potential Clients)

ABOUT
From Chris' interview on ReelLawyers.com
My firm handles solely criminal defense matters, including appeals and post-conviction cases, but mostly, we represent people accused of or already charged with crimes in Virginia state or federal court.
These days, there's so much information on the internet and a lot of noise about different lawyers. What you're really looking for is someone who knows how to handle criminal defense at the level of seriousness you may be facing. It’s not just about specific types of charges—though that can be a factor—it’s more about whether the lawyer truly understands this kind of work.
Many lawyers market themselves across different areas, and some have very little experience in criminal defense. So, it’s important not just to rely on what you see on a website but also to pay attention to how they come across when you meet them. If you have the ability to ask others for recommendations, that can be a huge advantage. The word on the street about a lawyer matters.
The biggest piece of advice I can give is: don’t rush. If someone you care about is in jail, it’s a crisis, but that doesn’t mean you should hire a lawyer immediately without careful consideration. This is a big decision. You need to meet the person, do some research, and make sure it feels right—the way they discuss the case, the way they present themselves.
Never hire someone who makes promises or says things that make you feel even slightly uncomfortable.
